Basic Training Journal: Saturday, September 27th

I didn't get to write yesterday because we had lights out at 2000..an hour early. The final PT test explained it, they wanted you rested for it. Friday we did the end of cycle testing. It is the easiest test I've every remembered taking. They broke us down into groups...1st and 2nd squad were a group and 3rd and 4th squad were a group. It's basically a group test, you shout out answers to the drill sergeants questions, it's a breeze. We were tested on NBC, first aid, SALUTE reports, and using a compass. The whole testing is extremely easy, you can't fail unless you're a complete moron.

After the EOCT, we had the DnC competition. We were first to go...you compete against the other platoons. It goes by really fast, thefirst sergeant and senior drill sergeant graded the platoon. The first sergeant asked only a few people questions....I thought he was going to ask everyone a question.

We won the DnC competition but there wasn't really a celebration. We gloated though. We didn't get any award for it, but we probably get something later.

Today was the final PT test...same setup as the last PT we did. I got a 271 on the final PT test; 50 pushups, 81 situps, and 2 miles in 12:30. I was right, I did max the 2 mile run and the situps. If only I could get a 90 or better on pushups, then I could get the PT patch.

After the PT test we packed our ruck sacks for the field training exercise(FTX). We leave Monday morning. We were supposedly supposed to get a pass today but we didn't get one afterall.
