Basic Training Journal: Saturday, August 30th

We had our second PT test today. We got up at 0330 and formed up at the PT field after getting ready. I did pretty good—37 pushups, 72 situps, and 14:11 on the 2 mile run. I passed the PT test but I definitely need to work on my pushups still.

I forgot to mention this before....but about half of our platoon gets to go to a Leann Womack concert next Saturday. The DS decided who got to go. He used the PT scores on our first test to decide who got to go. I had the mean DS the first time who didn't count my pushups so I don't get to go to the concert. I don't like country music anyway and you still have to pay $25 to go. I still would have enjoyed myself though, that's for sure.

We get to chill for the rest of today because of holiday activities(Labor Day is Monday). We just get to sit around the bay and treat the time like personal time sort of. Sunday will be pretty similiar.

Monday is going to be great because we get a Sand Hill pass. That means we can go to the PX, use the phones, use the recreation center, all that good stuff. The PX has laptops at the telephone center so I'm hoping to get online and check out my site and armybasic.org and leave a message. I don't know if we'll be allowed to use the computers though since that part of the PX was closed each time we went over there before with the DS.

The classrooms are going to show movies like Blackhawk Down too. We got conflicting messages on eating candy, pizza, etc. DS Bailey said we could, but but some dope asked DS Sibal about candy and he said no candy. Not sure if I'm going to risk it, it's just candy anyway!
