Basic Training Journal: Monday, August 25th

We had the ability group run today before breakfast. Then we got out M16s from the arms room and received bayonets. We learned how to fix and unfix bayonets. We also learned the smash, slash, perry, head smash, grunt blow, etc. After lunch we fought with pugal sticks. They give us helmets, vests, jock straps, and gloves so you really don't feel a hit even if it was a hard hit. You get to pick your opponent which is good.

For pugal sticks you line up back to back with your opponent, the DS smacks your helmets together and you walk 5 paces and turn around and fight your opponent. When you get a hard hit you score a point and to win you need 2 points. I lost to a guy nicknamed "Country". He clobbered me, but it was fun in the process.

Your platoon competes against each other, then you get to send your best guys to compete against the other platoons in the company. The DS that was refereeing kinda sucked and blew some calls. One of the guys in our platoon grabbed someones birth control glasses(BCGs) and ran up and gave them to the DS....it was hilarious. The DS was from another platoon, but he swore he was going to smoke us all night EXCEPT the guy who actually gave him the glasses...I guess he forgot about the whole thing though.
