Basic Training
Journal: Tuesday, August 12th
Me and my battle buddy have fireguard right now from 11 to
12am. The good thing is we get to sleep in till 6am today
because we're going to the confidence course today. I'm sure
it;s going to be a lot of work but it will be fun too. Tomorrow
we go to Eagle tower to repel, that will definitely be a great
experience
Yesterday we shined both paris of boots we have. We've polished
boots three times already in BT. I think we're doing it so
much to break in the boots faster plus the obvious fact that
they will be shiny. I've never shined boots before but I picked
it up quickly. You just rub the polish in with a brush or
cloth, then brush it in.
We went to the confidence course today..we had to climb down
a tower legs first using a suspended rope and going hand over
hand. We also had to lift ourselves over a wall and jump over
obstacles. The most interesting one was where we had to climb
up an open tower that had 3 seperate floors, then go back
down. Everything was pretty safe because they had netting
around the towers. It was pretty fun and it wasn't that hard
at all.
We also had a briefing with the sgt major and the battalion
commander. We were told to lock up our wall lockers, follow
the 7 Army values, stuff like that. They also answered questions
people had, like what the stages of BT are like. We have 2
more weeks of total control(3 weeks total).
I think I'm coming down with a fever...I'm feeling cold in
Georgia! I still have my strength though so I think it isn't
serious. I'll really get steamed if I have the flu, I don't
want to lose any training. We'll see how I feel tomorrow,
hopefully I won't get truly sick and have to go to sick call.
It's all those idiots coughing without covering their mouths.
Even the drill sergeants are getting sick because some people
have no hygiene.
We polished our boots today...second day in a row. There
was a small fire in the barracks so we had to form up away
from the barracks on the parking lot. We had to leave our
boots and get out of there ASAP. We must have stood out there
for an hour. It wasn't serious from what I could tell since
the fire trucks weren't being used.
We then went back to the barracks and everything looked fine.
We aren't into our personal time yet so hopefully we get the
whole time...we'll see.
